Sketchbook Project 2013

Another year, another Sketchbook Project!  Just got confirmation that they received it so am happy it made it safely all the way to Brooklyn.  A tiny few pages from it are below.  Found this time round to be a little easier to do, but no matter how much of a grand plan I had for it, it always seemed to be a doodle with pencils on a train, on a bus or very last minute.

In some cases before I was drifting to sleep I had this running commentary with fruit conversations and so had to jot them down quickly to get them out of my head! (see first and second images)

Either way it was fun and I love how handing it in for the month of January ties in nicely with my birthday month.  It kinda gives it the gold star treatment.

Mindful Illustrations

Did a few little illustrations for someone at the end of last year, so here are 2 samples for the blog.  I went for a nice handmade feel with a strong background as the focus was making the character light hearted.  Having it too polished in an illustrator format would have made it 'cleaner' but would also have lost some of the personal touch that was relevant to the brief.

Character Design - Vampires

Another part of the course involves doing character design, so having created an idea for a game I had to come up with a villan and hero for it.  The game, based on the myth of vampires, was going to be an RPG with some battles and end boss fight.  No doubt that'll be a project to develop for the 2nd semester.  In the meantime, here is the character design for Carmilla, based on a futuristic version of her (from the Gothic novel).
